List of documents to provide


 

Application for a Bachelor's program

1. Two copies (use the "print" button) of the enrollment application form, completed, dated, and signed (available starting in January for the Fall semester and mid-September for the Spring semester).

2. Two passport photos, one glued to each of the signed and dated application forms.

3. A simple copy of your identity document (front and back) or of the personal information page of your passport.

4. A simple copy of your Swiss residency permit (front and back) (if you have one).

5. A complete CV, including full details of your studies at the secondary and university levels. The Europass CV format is perfectly acceptable. Each year should be clearly accounted for, including years during which you undertook no studies.

6. Certified true copies of your transcripts and/or grade reports for the last three years of secondary studies (including the current academic year) in their original language (+ translation – refer to point 12).

  • Grade reports are not required for students who will obtain or have obtained a Swiss federal or secondary-school "maturité".
  • Proof of registration or student status in the original language, bearing the official stamp of your institution, if the transcripts or grade reports for the current school year are not (yet) available (+ translation – refer to point 12).

7. A Certified true copy of your secondary diploma certificate in the original language (+ translation – refer to point 12), along with a certified true copy of the final transcript or grade report (+ translation – refer to point 12) (if such exists).

  • For students who have earned a Swiss federal or secondary-school "maturité", we require a simple copy of the diploma certificate.

8. Proof of admission in the original language (+ translation – refer to point 12) to a UNIGE-recognized public university and program in the country where the secondary-school diploma was earned (ONLY if required by UNIGE as a condition of enrollment).

9. Certified true copies of all university grade reports and transcripts obtained to date (even in cases of withdrawal or failure) in the original language (+ translation – refer to point 12).

  • For grade reports or transcripts from Swiss higher education institutions (UNI, HES, HEM, HEP, and EPF), we only require simple copies.
  • Proof of registration or student status in the original language, BEARING THE OFFICIAL STAMP of your institution, if the transcripts or grade reports for the current academic year are not (yet) available (+ translation – refer to point 12).

10. Certified true copies of any university diploma(s) earned in the original language (+ translation – refer to point 12).

  • For diplomas from Swiss higher education institutions (UNI, HES, HEM, HEP, and EPF), we require only simple copies.

11. For students who have studied at Swiss higher education institutions (UNI, HES, HEM, HEP, and EPF), proof that you are no longer enrolled at that/those institution(s) (“attestation d’exmatriculation”).

  • For applicants whose studies are still ongoing, this proof must be provided at the latest when your enrollment at the University of Geneva is confirmed.

12.In addition to the documents in their original languages, official translations for all documents not in French, German, Italian, English or Spanish.

13. If required in our conditions of admission, a simple copy of a certificate indicating at least a B2 level of proficiency in French, if you have one. This may excuse you from the requirement to take the UNIGE French exam.

14. For students having previously undertaken university-level studies and who wish to obtain equivalencies to be applied towards a future Bachelor's degree program: the completed form, along with all required documentation listed on the 1st page of the form.

  • This application is optional.
  • Equivalencies are not available for the Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting.
  • Equivalencies for Bachelor's degrees from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences must be applied for with the Academic Advisor during the first three weeks of the semester.
  • For the Bachelor’s degree in International Relations (BARI) of the Global Studies Institute (GSI), equivalencies are only granted upon successful completion at GSI partner institutions of courses identical to those offered within the BARI program. (Cf. Article 8.2 of the BARI rules and regulations dated 19 September 2016).

The Admissions Office reserves the right to request additional documents.

IMPORTANT : incomplete files will not be considered, and the University will not enter into correspondence with applicants ! Any omission or submission of inaccurate or falsified documents can lead to the definitive rejection of admission and/or dismissal from UNIGE.

 


 

Application for a Master's program / Certificate / MAS

1. Two copies (use the "print" button) of the enrollment application form, completed, dated, and signed (available starting in January for the Fall semester and mid-September for the Spring semester).

  • No application file is required for the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, the Global Studies Institute (GSI) and the University Institute of Teacher Education (IUFE).
  • For the Geneva School of Economics and Management, a complete file is required, as explained on the GSEM website.

13. For an application to a MAS (not to be confused with Master's degrees) of the Faculty of Science or the Faculty of Medicine, the certificate of acceptance of the Director of the program.

Application for a doctoral program / assistantship

2. Two passport photos, one glued to each of the signed and dated application forms.

3. One simple copy of your identity document (front and back) or of the personal information page of your passport.

4. One simple copy of your Swiss residency permit (front and back) (if you have one).

11. The completed application’s form for admission to a doctoral program, along with all required documentation. No application form is required for the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Humanities, the Geneva School of Economics and Management and the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting.

12.  Doctoral programs at the Faculty of Science or the Geneva School of Social Sciences: a letter from an instructor of the concerned UNIGE Faculty/School who is approved to direct doctoral dissertations, and who agrees to oversee your research.

13.  Doctoral programs at the Faculty of Medicine: a letter from your dissertation director, signed and bearing the stamp of the student secretary of the Faculty of Medicine at the University Medical Center. (CMU – Rue Michel Servet 1 – Mrs. Marie-France Châtelain, marie-France.chatelain(at)unige.ch – Monday morning , Tuesday afternoon, Thursday all day and Friday morning).
14.  Doctoral programs at the Geneva School of Economics and Management: a letter of acceptance for doctoral studies signed by the Dean of the Faculty.
