Funding for Publications and Communication

The results of scientific research are an adding value only if they are communicated between scientists and to a wider public. Specific funding covering expenses related to publishing scientific books, research reports, doctoral theses and colloquium proceedings are listed below. Many other grants and programmes (FP7, NCCRs,..) also include publication and communication costs.

SNSF - Publication Grants

This award supports the publication of high quality scientific literature, including doctoral and post-doctoral theses, mainly in the humanities and social sciences.

SNSF – Agora

For projects that aim to communicate research issues to the public e.g. exhibitions, events, debates, Internet platforms, games or artistic productions. The amount of funding is between CHF 5,000 and 200,000 for a maximum of 3 years.

Academic Society of Geneva

The Academic Society of Geneva can finance the cost of publications.
Deadlines: 15 March, 15 May, 15 September and 15 December (for medicine, only 15 May and 15 December) (every year)

Swiss Academy for medical sciences

The Swiss Academy for Medical Sciences (SAMS) awards grants for publications. The topics must be related to SAMS activities and the publication must be distributed in bookshops (no publication under self-edition).
Deadline: The application may be submitted at any time. The decision process requires at most 2 months.

Ernst and Lucie Schmidheiny Foundation

The Ernst and Lucie Schmidheiny Foundation aims at contributing to the development of the University of Geneva. It can finance the cost of publications.
