Geneva Motivation Lab
The Geneva Motivation Lab is led by Prof. Guido H.E. Gendolla.
Research fields
Our research and teaching projects comprise basic processes of motivation and learning as well as applied issues like health psychology.
Mood and Mental Effort
Experiments investigating the impact of mood states on the mobilization of mental resources. Effort mobilization is quantified as cardiovascular reactivity during task performance.
Motivational Processes in the Elicitation of Emotion
Part of the national research center “Affective Sciences”: Emotion and Individual Behavior and Social Processes" (Project 1). Experiments on the linkage between appraisal processes and emotional and motivational outcomes during task performance.
Primed Affect and Effort-Related Cardiovascular Response
Experiments investigating the role of unconsciously processed affective stimuli on effort-related cardiovascular reactivity in the context of cognitive tasks.
Influence of demand and importance salience on effort mobilization
Experiments investigating the impact of contextual variables on the mobilization of effort. Effort mobilization is quantified as beta-adrenergic reactivity during task performance.
