The group of marine and lake biogeochemistry has just returned from a field trip on the Lake Ontario on board the Lake Guardian. We brought back samples that were collected in June and September 2013 for the analysis of iron chemistry. This research is a collaboration with Profs Mr. Twiss from the Clarkson University (NY, USA) and A. Chappaz from the Central Michigan University (USA) in order to better understand the dynamics of large lakes. Samples collected and analysed on board will help identifying the impact that major (nitrogen) and minor nutrients (iron and molybdenum) exerts on phytoplankton growth and activity in that lake.
