Hybrid quantum technology in the presence of losses.

Entanglement, while being a primary resource in most quantum information schemes, is highly vulnerable to losses. Fortunately the effect of these losses in the optical domain can be overcome using hybrid methods that combine tools of discrete- and continuous-variable quantum technologies. I will present a few of our recent results to this effect, particularly the distillation and preparation of highly entangled optical states between parties that are separated by an absorbing medium.
