M. Miroslav N. JOVANOVIC

Dr Miroslav N. Jovanović works at the UN Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva. He completed his education in economics by shuttling between the Universities of Novi Sad, Belgrade, Amsterdam and Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario).

After working in the petroleum business, he joined the UN in New York in 1989 where he worked in the Centre on Translational Corporations. In 1992, Jovanović moved to the UN Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva.

His principal academic interests include: International economic integration; European Union; Enlargement of the European Union; Location of firms/industries and spatial economics; Evolutionary economic geography; Industrial, trade and competition policies; Transnational corporations and foreign direct investment. In addition, he’s a professor of economics at the European Centre for Peace and Development of UN University for Peace in Belgrade and Megatrend University in Belgrade.

He was the Director of Studies at the annual European Summer Academy in Spetsae, Greece. In 2011, he won the Daeyang Prize for the best article (‘Is globalisation taking us for a ride?’) published in 2010 in the Journal of Economic Integration.
