Committed to the continuous adaptation of its teaching curriculum to developments in biomedicine as well as to the needs of an evolving society, the Faculty of medicine plays a leading role today in the development of medical education in Switzerland. It was the first of its kind in Switzerland to provide a new-problem-base method of medical learning. To date it is the only medical faculty to be officially accredited in Switzerland by the Organisation of Quality Accreditation (OAQ).
The medical faculty of Geneva works in close collaboration with the Geneva University Hospitals in order to develop the practice of clinical medicine. It hosts the only School of dental medicine in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. While the quality of its research is today widely recognized, the Faculty of medicine of the University of Geneva has promoted the development of a number of fields among which diabetes, infectious diseases, genetics, neurosciences and transplants.
Apart from pregraduate training in Medicine the Faculty of Medicine also proposes several master programmes in other fields related to medical and life sciences.
