Research Interests / Recherches

Tom holds a B.A in English Language and Literature and an M.A. in Postcolonial Literary and Cultural Studies from the University of Leeds, UK. Tom has an enduring interest in gender and sexuality, and their representation in postcolonial and contemporary literatures written in English. His current research interests include settler narratives, literary representations of community and memory, the body as perceived via feminist and queer theories, and indigenous writing and theory. His doctoral thesis examines queer experiences of settlement and exile in New Zealand literature.
