This paper is concerned with Jamaican Creole in its syntactic aspect. The aim
is to put forth a
structural analysis of the articulation of inflection in declarative clauses
in this language. The
background for this investigation is provided by a recent framework which postulates
an
elaborate and highly restrictive clausal apparatus (Cinque (1999)). The study
explores to what
extent Jamaican Creole proves compatible with this recent approach to clause
structure.
