To get there from the airport, the simplest and quickest way is to take a train. Follow the sign "Geneve - Centre" at the airport train station and take any train, they all trains stop at the main train station (first stop). Then take the tram as indicated below — or walk from there: it's a nice 20 min walk through the Mont Blanc bridge.
Duration/price: 40 min, ticket 3 CHF or 2eur to be bought at the airport train station. The ticket covers the tram journey as well.

To get there from the train station, take trams 13 or 15 direction Palettes to Plainpalais. (10 mins, ticket 3 CHF or 2eur to be bought at the tram stop.)

To move around in Geneva, the simplest way by far is to use public transportation - and if you have booked an hotel in Geneva, they have to provide you with a free day pass for all public transportation, do not forget to ask for it. The public transport company (TPG) have a useful route planner. The locations of the bus and tramway stops around the department and the main university building (Bastions) are indicated on the following plan, which is downloadable as gif, pdf and jpg (courtesy eidos!).

Accomodation

Here is a list of nearby hotels that you might find useful.

Keynote speakers are hosted at the hotel Comedie, Rue de Carouge 12, 1205 Genève, phone. +41 22 322 23 24.

To get there from the airport, the simplest is by bus. Take bus 10 at the airport (depature floor, the stop is outside on your left), and get off at Bel'Air. From the same bus stop, take bus 7 and get off at Rive. Walk on your right, pass the "Fnac" store, and take the first street on your left (rue Verdaine, it goes uphill). The hotel sign is visible there but the entrance is on the small street that goes along the hotel on your left (rue de la Vallée). (detailed map).
(Total journey 30 min, ticket 3 CHF or 2eur to be bought from a machine at the tram stop - you will need coins.)

Alternatively, you can take the train to the Geneva station (see instructions above: the 3CHF/2€ ticket will cover the tram as well). Then, take tram 16 direction "Moillesullaz" and get off at Rive. Walk on your right, pass the "Fnac" store, and take the first street on your left (rue Verdaine, it goes uphill). The hotel sign is visible there but the entrance is on the small street that goes along the hotel on your left (rue de la Vallée). (detailed map).

Or finally, you can take a train to the Geneva station, and walk from there. It's a nice 20 min walk through the Mont Blanc bridge.
