Abstract

A Note on Wetting Transition for Gradient Fields P. Caputo and Y. Velenik Stoch. Proc. Appl. 87, 107-113 (2000). We prove existence of a wetting transition for two classes of gradient fields which include: 1) The Continuous SOS model in any dimension and 2) The Massless Gaussian model in dimension two. Combined with a recent result by Bolthausen et al proving the absence of such a transition for Gaussian models above two dimensions, this shows in particular how absolute-value and quadratic interactions can give rise to completely different behavior. Key words: Gradient models, entropic repulsion, pinning, wetting transition. Files: PDF file, Published version, bibtex
