Principles of the programme
Activities and objectives
The main activity of the programme relates to the supervision of students in sciences who are preparing a doctoral thesis in science in all the field of biology and biochemistry within the Faculty of medicine. It includes also supervision of physicians who are completing their training by a doctorate in sciences (MD/PhD).
Other activities are organized within the framework of the programme, that aim to promote exchanges and to improve contacts between researchers from various departments of the Faculty of medicine. The programme is also in charge of organising several series of conferences or seminars open to the whole Faculty.
Didactic supervision of doctorate students aims to provide them with sufficient information that will complete the specialist training they received within the framework of their thesis. The programme is conceived so that the time dedicated to the supervised activities during the thesis years does not interfere with the experimental work of the thesis. All students of the programme are registered within the Faculty of science.
Principles
The programme is established according to two principles:
- It is the Faculty of science (by means of biology-medicine and biochemistry-medicine joint committees) that holds the responsibilities and the assessment prerogatives during the various stages of the doctorate-students course.
- The Faculty of medicine, through the programme's structures and activities, provides supervision of doctorate students. It is responsible for the logistical follow-up of the programme's doctorate students.
