An inspiring seminar from Pr. Boland

On Tuesday 22nd of November 2022, Pr. Andreas BOLAND, Department of Molecular Biology, University of Geneva, invited by Pr. Patrick MERALDI, gave a conference entitled Mechanisms of human separase regulation unveiled by cryogenic electron microscopy.

He presented his innovative structural biology methods and explained how they enabled him to solve for the first time the molecular structure of a key enzyme for cell division, human separase. Pr. Andreas Boland also explained how, in collaboration with scientists from Pr. Miriam Stoeber's laboratory, the molecular structure of a nanobody could be determined.

In general, his research group leverages the latest developments in Structural Biology, and in particular cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) with complementary biophysical techniques (proteomics, light-microscopy, microfluidics, etc.), to address complex biological questions in the field of cell cycle regulation and cell signaling. For more details, see his website.
