How to apply

Diploma required

In accordance with Article 2 of the MUSE study Rules:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, economics, social sciences, international relations, medicine, law or any equivalent study direction.
  • HES students in disciplines related to environmental sciences.
  • Applications by students from other study directions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. An additional course load  of 9 ECTS to 30 ECTS may be requested (as entrance requirement or as additional courses to be followed parallel to the Master’s programme).

Entry into the master’s program takes place only once a year in September.

Selection of candidates

All applications accepted for registration by the Admissions Office are examined and evaluated by the MUSE Selection Committee according to the following criteria: 

  • Complete application package
  • English language skills at least at level B1
  • French language skills at least at level B1
  • Clear motivation to study environmental science
  • Intra- or extracurricular experience related to environmental science and/or sustainable development: internship, short course or relevant activity during civil service, topic of Bachelor’s thesis, relevant memberships in associations, political activity, etc.

Candidates with no intra-curricular or extracurricular experience are nevertheless invited to apply. Failure to meet this criterion does not automatically imply exclusion. Contact person for any questions regarding the selection criteria: Nicole Efrancey Dao

Sciences Excellence Scholarship

The Excellence Fellowship consists of a grant amounting to CHF 10'000 to CHF 15’000/year (no teaching duties); it is awarded for one year and extended for the regular duration of the chosen Master's program (three or four semesters) provided the applicant is academically successful at the end of his/her first semester of studies
