Laura de la Villa Aleman

Laura de la Villa is a PhD candidate at the Paul Bairoch Institute of Economic History at the University of Geneva. In 2012, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. In 2013, she continued her studies with a Master’s degree in Economic History at the University of Barcelona. After working two years at the University of Barcelona as a research and teaching assistant, Laura joined the Paul Bairoch Institute of Economic History in March 2016. She collaborates on the interdisciplinary research project “Diplomacies of Sovereign Debt: Comparing Sovereign Debt Disputes Since 1945” funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and directed by Pr. Juan H. Flores. Her dissertation is focused on sovereign debt restructurings after WWII with a special emphasis on the London Debt Agreement on German Debt.
