Josephine Kerutt studied physics at the University of Potsdam in Germany and got her Master's degree in 2015. She is part of the MUSE consortium and did research on high redshift galaxies and their Lyman alpha line properties at the AIP in Potsdam under the supervision of Prof. Lutz Wisotzki. During her time as a PhD student at the AIP she has visited the Department of Astronomy of the University of Geneva to collaborate with Prof. Anne Verhamme, Prof. Pascal Oesch and the galaxy team, where she is currently working. In order to better understand the reionisation of the universe and the properties of the galaxies involved in this process, she uses data from the integral field spectrograph MUSE in combination with HST photometry to search for ionising emission and study the Lyman alpha emission line.
