Course description
Formal course work in the first year (3 hours per week, 30 weeks)
Course objective: Group leaders, via interactive discussion of a few critical publications, will convey their enthusiasm for their research area to the students.
This course is really the heart of our PhD programme. It is team taught and covers advanced topics in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Molecular Biology. Included are discussions on the ethical conduct of science and an off-campus lecture at Merck-Serono. Not only do students develop a sense of camaraderie and programme identity, but since PIs from all departments teach in this course, students additionally get a broad education and, critically, are exposed to the work being done by their colleagues.
All course work is in English.
