Patagonia is located at the end of the very end of South America. During six months (October 05 - March 06), I 'hunted' Patagonian forams and also discovered a region, which is as wild as beautiful, extreme in all the meanings of the term. link

Dating the Tree of Life | Fri Sep 15, 2006

How old is the life?
When did the first eukaryotes appear?
How reliable is molecular dating of animal and plant evolution?
Recent attempts to answer these questions led to a hot debate between molecular evolutionists and paleontologists concerning both the reliability of the fossil record and the biases of molecular clock estimates. Stimulated by this debate, new methods of molecular dating that enable the incorporation of variable rates of gene evolution have been developed.

During this symposium, the invited speakers have presented controversial views on evolutionary time scale, have introduced new methods of molecular dating and have discussed their pitfalls and limitations.
