Travel information
If you have to take a flight, the Monte Verità conference center in Ascona is best reached via Zurich airport, *Lugano airport or Milano-Malpensa airport (Italy). There is ground transportation by bus or train to Locarno after which you can make your way to the conference center (see below: Locarno-Monte Verità).
From Zürich airport to Locarno by train
Exact information for travel by train from Zurich to Locarno can be found on the SBB website. Trains leave from Zurich airport to Zurich main station (Zurich Hauptbahnhof) several times every hour. At Zurich main station you can travel to Locarno for which there are connections at least once every hour (you may need to travel through Arth-Goldau and/or Bellinzona depending on the time of your journey). The journey takes between 3 to 3.5 hours and travels through the mountains.
* Via Lugano airport
You may find a flight to Lugano airport (there are direct flights from Geneva and Rome). This may be an option for example with Swiss International airlines and may be worth exploring, as the cost may be cheaper than air and rail tickets combined. There is a shuttle bus from the airport to the train station in Lugano, from which you can get a train to Locarno (change in Bellinzona or Giubiasco).
From Milan airport to Locarno
There is a shuttle bus service from Milan Malpensa airport in Italy to Bellinzona train station in Switzerland. From Bellinzona you need to take a train to Locarno (approx. 30 mins). From Locarno to Monte Verità, follow the instructions below. For travel by train to Locarno, take the shuttle bus from Milan Malpensa to Milano Centrale, which departs every 20 minutes (takes about 1 hour). At Milano Centrale, you can travel to Locarno by train for which there are connections several times an hour (via Bellinzona). The journey takes approx. 2 hours.
From Locarno to Monte Verità
We will organize limited transfer from Locarno to Monte Verità on Sunday June 13th and the same for travel back to Locarno on Thursday afternoon June 17th. The shuttle will be running for four hours and will do approx. 6 runs, carrying a maximum of 11 people each time. The exact times for this shuttle which operates free of charge will appear on the website later. If your arrival does not fall within the allocated times, you can make your own way to Monte Verità as follows: From Locarno you can either take a taxi directly to the Monte Verità (15 mins) or take a bus (Number 31 leaving opposite the train station) to Ascona (get off at "Ascona Posta"). From Ascona you can either walk (uphill) to Monte Verità (15 min), or take a taxi or alternatively the "BUXI" (Bus and taxi), which travels at limited times only from the Otello cinema.

Motorway A2, direction Gotthard/Lugano until Bellinzona

The road brings you towards a pedestrian area of Ascona old town. Shortly before the no entry sign, turn to the right uphill and follow the sign "Centro Monte Verità".
