We are investigating the effect of excitation wavelength on the ultrafast charge recombination (CR) dynamics of excited donor-acceptor complexes. Some DACs exhibit two charge transfer (CT) absorption bands (left picture). The right picture shows a log plot of the time evolution of the excited state population of a DAC in acetonitrile measured by the transient grating technique. The decay, hence the CR, is substantially faster upon excitation in the low frequency CT band.
