Séminaire
hors-ville 3e cycle en chimie
Over
the past decades, photochemistry has evolved from the status of
new area of chemistry to that of matured field of science. As
most of the basic concepts and principles of photophysics and
photochemistry are now quite well understood, this field has expanded
in many different directions. This has also been stimulated by
the impressive developments in instrumentation, synthetic methods
and computer performances. As a consequence, it is nowadays possible
to observe phenomena or to perform experiments that a photochemist
could have only dreamed of 20 years ago.
The
aim of this Summer School is to give the participants an overview
of some of the frontiers in photochemistry. The invited speakers
are internationally renown for actively pushing forward these frontiers.
Their domain of excellence is complementary and covers a very wide
range of research going from theoretical to industrial photochemistry.
Organized
on behalf of the CUSO
and the 3e
Cycle, this
School is intended not only for chemists
specialised in photochemistry but also for any scientists
interested in this fascinating field. To be sure that all participants
enjoy and take maximum profit from all lectures, a short
introduction course on the basics of photochemistry and photophysics
will be proposed at the beginning of the School.
