Professor

Research disciplines:
Sedimentology, Biostratigraphy, Micropaleontology
Research interest:
- Palaeoenvironmental and palaeogeographic evolution of the Tethyan margins and the Panthalassa Ocean
- Carbonates from these marine systems as archives of the global biological and ecological crisis at both Permian/Triassic and Triassic/Jurassic boundaries
- Comparison at high stratigraphic resolution between Tethyan and Panthalassan provinces to disentangle the factors controlling different organisms distribution patterns and evolution
- Taxonomy and systematic of foraminifers as a tool for assessing past depositional and ecological conditions
Ongoing research projects:
- The Upper Triassic volcanic island-arc carbonates platform of the Wallowa terrane (Oregon): sedimentology, biostratigraphy and micropaleontology (REFCADE)
- The Upper Triassic atoll-type carbonates of the Sambosan Accretionary Complex (Japan): sedimentology and high resolution biostratigraphy (REFCADE)
- Environmental, climatic and biotic changes across the Triassic-Jurassic boundary: causes and effects highlighted via the coral reef associations (TJCORA)
- Upper Triassic-Lower Jurassic integrated stratigraphy from Antalya (South Turkey) and palaeogeography of the Western Tethys
