Disciplines:
Reservoir Geology, Seismic Interpretation, Sedimentary Basin Modelling

Biography:
Andrea Moscariello joined the University of Geneva on 1st of March 2011 after 15 years of a career as a geoscientist spent primarely in the energy industry and in academia, as visiting lecturer at University of Cambridge (England) first and then as Assistant Professor at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands). Andrea is holding the Chair of Reservoir Geology and Basin Analysis and he is committed to bring into the University of Geneva research and education programs his practical geological knowledge and experience gained over several years worldwide.

Research Interest:
Andrea's main scientific interest is understanding the nature, architecture, heterogeneity and connectivity of siliciclastic an carbonate reservoir rocks. To achieve this goal Andrea is looking at various key reservoir aspects at different scale ranging from sedimentary basins and related driving forces (such as relative sea-level changes and tectonic) to the micro-textural scale (e.g. mineral composition and pore network) where very important details are often hidden in. For his research Andrea is deploying a variety of approaches and tools ranging from outcrop-based field geology, core and wireline log data analysis, 2D and 3D seismic interpretation, to various analytical techniques (XRD, XRF, SEM, CT-scan, MC-ICPMS, QEMSCAN, etc) aimed for instance to unravel the chemistry, mineralogy and reservoir properties of rocks such as porosity and permeability. 3D geo-modelling softwares are then used to capture the conceptual geological model developed from the field and analytical data.
