21.07.2009 - Epuisement des mines: aux sources du mythe. Article de Pierre-Alexandre Sallier dans Le Temps. La prophétie du «pic minier» reste «totalement erronée» selon Lluís Fontboté, responsable du groupe des gisements métallifères à la section des sciences de la terre de l’Université de Genève. Elle reflète surtout les travers d’une course aux rendements rapides par les géants miniers.

16.11.2007 - Caroline Bouvet de Maisonneuve (UNIGE) a obtenu un prix ELSTE - Agustin Lombard pour 2007 son travail intitulé "The Mechanism of large explosive eruptions : textural study of the Kos Plateau tuff pumices" sous la direction d'Olivier Bachman (Département de Minéralogie). 17.11.2005 - Dr. Olivier Bachmann received the Niggli Medal at the recent Swiss Geosciences Meeting (Zurich, November 17, 2005) in acknowledgement of his career accomplishments. The breadth and creativity of Dr. Bachmann's scientific vision were noted as truly exceptional by the Niggli Commission.

Thomas, formely University of Waterloo, and acknowledges his contribution to the development of the Earth and environmental sciences at the University of Geneva, in particular at the Institute F.A. Forel.
