Sardinia 2011

From the 11th thourgh 18th of June 2011, 7 of our members visited the geologically very interesting island of Sardinia in the Mediterranean. During this one week field excursion we focused on the relationship between the islands geological evolution and the ore deposits there. Our program included "Calamine" supergene non-sulfide Zn mineralization, stratiform mineralization, vein-type and skarn mineralization, hydrothermal dolomitization and visits of industrial mineral quarries such as albitite and kaolinite deposits.
