I am a first year graduate student working under the supervision of Costanza Bonadonna. My PhD project is about finding a model to describe volcanic particles’ settling rate and their wet or dry aggregations in the atmospheric environments. Considering the irregularity of particle shapes, complex dynamics of volcano eruption and so many theories about the particle aggregation make this as a challenging area to research. Our instruments are advanced computational fluid dynamics, experimental observations on the CERG wind tunnel and of course our endeavor! Currently, I am working on the modification and numerical simulation of the wind tunnel which is built in collaboration with the groupe de competence en mecanique des fluids et procedes energetiques (CMEFE) of the Ecole d'ingénieurs de Genève, and maintaining the websites of the volcanology research group and the CERG.
