MY RESEARCH

Intriguing carbonate calcium- and barium-rich microspheres, embedded in an organic matrix, were observed for the first time in 2012 in meso-oligotrophic Lake Geneva, during a routine lake-water quality survey. These microspheres hold high concentrations of strontium and barium, compared to the undersaturated water of Lake Geneva. Understanding the origin of these micropearls is the central theme of my research.
