My Research
My research at the Section of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Geneva focuses on sedimentary basin analysis through the geological history, and the implications on GeoEnergies. I study tectonic and stratigraphic processes using both field (stratigraphic, structural) and subsurface data (reflection seismic, gravity), as well as the response of sedimentary basin to tectonic, eustatic and geodynamic events affecting the architecture and distribution of marine and continental sedimentary rocks. My objective is to link surface and deep subsurface processes. My field areas encompass sedimentary basins bounding mountain ranges such as the Western Mediterranean domain (the Alboran Sea and its surroundings) or the Alpine Swiss Molasse basin. Part of my research is also dedicated to the Messinian Salinity Crisis into the Mediterranean realm, its causes and effects on sedimentary basin dynamics.
I am also interested in GeoResource exploration, assessment and characterization together with reservoir geology. I am currently involved in the national Swiss Competence Center on Supply of Electricity project (SCCER-SOE) which deals with the development of fundamental research in the domains of Deep Geothermal Energy and CO2 sequestration in Switzerland.
