Henri LOUBERGÉ
Professor of economics and finance
Henri Loubergé was
appointed professor at the University of Geneva in 1984. He is now the Chairman
of the Economics Section in the School of Economic and Social Sciences (SES) and Head of the MSc program in economics. He is
also the co-director of the executive program
in quantitative portfolio management that he founded in 1993. Previously,
he founded and directed the master's degree (DES) in economics and finance
(1985-1997) and chaired the economics department (1994-1997). In addition,
Henri Loubergé has founded and edited The Geneva Papers on Risk and
Insurance Theory until 1994. He is now associate editor of this journal
(renamed Geneva Risk and Insurance Review), as well as of The Journal
of Risk and Insurance. He is also the coordinator of the International Scientific
Council of the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research "Financial
Valuation and Risk Management" (NCCR-FINRISK)
and research fellow of the Swiss
Finance Institute.
His teaching and research
interests are in the area of the economics of risk and uncertainty, with
applications to insurance, risk management, financial theory, and international
finance.
A graduate in German and in
economics from the University of Bordeaux in France, Henri Loubergé obtained
his doctoral degree in economics at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, in
1979. Previous to becoming a professor in this same university, he has been
Assistant-Secretary-General of the International
Association for the Study of Insurance Economics (1979-1982), and professor
of economics and finance at CERAM (Center for Education and Research Applied to
Management) in Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France (1982-1984). More recently he was
also visiting professor at the universities of Alabama (1990, 1998), Bordeaux
(1991, 1997-2002), Toulouse (1995), Grenoble (1996), and Texas-Austin (1991),
and in the French high schools of HEC (1993-1994) and ENSAE (1998) in Paris.
His publications include
several books and monographs : Europe and the Resources of the Sea, 1977;

Insurance and Reinsurance, 1981; Finance and Insurance of Export Credit
Risks, 1985; Risk, Information and Insurance, 1990; Currency

Options, 1998; and articles in journals such as : Journal of Finance,
Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Financial
Intermediation, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Risk and
Insurance, Insurance Mathematics and Economics, Geneva Papers on Risk and
Insurance, etc.
