Juan Flores has a PhD in Economics from Sciences Po Paris. He presented his dissertation in 2004, entitled "When the Leader follows the crowd: a microeconomic analysis of the Baring crisis". Flores has been visiting professor at the University Carlos III in Madrid, and has been invited professor in other universities such as Rey Juan Carlos University (Spain), CUCEA (University of Guadalajara, Mexico) and University of St Gallen. He has also worked for the Mexican Government and as external consultant to the OECD, and is member of the Figuerola Institute of Economic History. Flores works on the financial crises in a long term perspective, sovereign risk and its link to economic growth and sovereign defaults. He is member of the Department of Economic Sciences at the University of Geneva since 2008.
