Chaînes de production textile équitables
Context
The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), together with the International Trade Center (ITC) in Geneva, is implementing an innovative project in Ghana (Quality Textile Value Chain), which aims at linking West African suppliers of fashion and accessories with already confirmed large textile distributors and fashion houses in Europe. This project foresees job creation and economic betterment of poor communities mainly in Ghana and to a lesser extent in Mali and Burkina Faso. The Government of Ghana is a keen supporter of this project, which forms part of Ghana’s National Creative Industries Initiative.
Within this project, SECO foresees a bilateral collaboration with the Swiss organization ICVolunteers to develop appropriate communication materials, to help create a community of web users able to communicate the potential of Ghana and, finally, to support the long term opportunities of this project for local designers. In the context of the following project the consultant will ensure Swissness and a set of communication tools and web materials. The aim of this approach is to leverage the multiplier effect and therefore sustainability of the project.

Project
The Consultant [ICV] supervises up to two students at a time from the University of Geneva, working on targeted studies related to the project for a period of three months.
1. The students will spend a preparatory period at the ICV office in Geneva. This part of the internship will last one month.
2. The second part of the internship will be carried out in Ghana. There, the students will carry out their research both in the field and at research facilities, e.g. KNUST and/or University of Ghana.
3. The third part will be a conclusion period in Geneva, directly after the Ghana experience. This will allow for the students to finalize their projects. It will happen in close collaboration with ICV and the University of Geneva.
