Contextual Theologies and Pneumatology
March 24-25, 2014

At a time when Pentecostalism keeps growing in the global south, how do contextual theologians engage the doctrine of the Holy Spirit? What may be some of the distinctive features of a contextual approach to pneumatology? In other words, what do contextual theologies have to contribute to theological reflection on the Spirit of God, and how? This conference seeks to be a platform where such questions, as well as others related to the general theme, will be explored and discussed.

Keynote speakers

  • Kirsteen Kim (Leeds Trinity University), author of The Holy Spirit in the World (Orbis/SPCK 2007), Joining in with the Spirit (SCM-Epworth 2010) and co-author of Christianity as a World Religion (Continuum 2008), has recently edited (with Veli-Matti Kärkkäinen and Amos Yong) Interdisciplinary and Religio-cultural Discourses on a Spirit-filled World: Loosing the Spirits (Palgrave Macmillan, Sept. 2013).
  • Jacques Haers, sj (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) is co-editor of Postcolonial Europe in the Crucible of Cultures: Reckoning with God in a World of Conflicts (Rodopi, 2007).
