Trained as Engineer with a PhD in physics (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology-EPFL and University of Geneva), he continues his carreer in the USA (Stanford University then Conductus Inc, young start-up based in Silicon Valley) where he is also involved in evaluating the commercial potential of new technologies for a venture capital firm. He comes back to Switzerland to initiate and manage Unitec, the office of technology transfer.

Laurent Miéville was from 2007 to 2009 President the Association of European Science and Technology Transfer Professionals - ASTP, which groups more than 600 professionals active in 32 countries. He is one of the first technology transfer professionals to be certified at an international level and was a board member of its certifying body, CLP Inc.. He recently co-authored with Georges Haour of IMD a book about technology transfer.
