Tau functions and differential equations for the real time evolution of free fermions
The work for the Kyoto group has shown that tau functions forclassically integrable systems may be written as expectation values in afermion system. These expectation values have a physical meaning, but of asomewhat artificial nature, as these correlation functions do not seem to bevery useful in studying real systems of free fermions. We show that the morephysically motivated Fermi-edge singularity type correlation functionsprovide an alternative representation of such tau functions. Thisconnection allows us to reveal the shock-wave physics behind the out ofequilibrium Fermi edge singularity problem.

The Gaussian free field and SLE(4) on doubly connected domains
In this talk I consider the Gaussian free field whose levellines are known to be related to SLE(4). It is shown how this
relation allows to define chordal SLE(4) processes on doubly
connected domains, describing traces that are anchored on one of the
two boundary components. The precise nature of the processes depends
on the conformally invariant boundary conditions imposed on the
second boundary component. Starting from the free field theory I will
show how to generalise Schramm's formula for left-/right-passage with
respect to a point to doubly connected domains for different boundary
conditions, and point out a relation to first-exit problems for
Brownian bridges. For the free field compactified at the self-dual
radius, the extended su(2)_1 symmetry leads to a class of conformally
invariant boundary conditions parametrised by elements of SU(2). I
will explain how to extend SLE(4) to this setting. This allows for a
derivation of new passage probabilities a la Schramm that interpolate
continuously from Dirichlet to Neumann conditions.

Quantum geometry of 3D lattices
I will review remarkable connections of some recent results indiscrete differential geometry with the theory of integrable quantumsystems and the Yang-Baxter equation. We consider two examples:(i) circle patterns arising in connection with Thurston's approach tothe discrete Riemann mapping theorem and(ii) 3D circular lattices (lattices whose faces are quadrilateralsinscribable into a circle)Interestingly, geometrical counterparts of the Yang-Baxter equation reduceto classical incidence theorems of elementary geometry. Extending theseideas, we define a Poisson bracket algebra on discrete 2D surfacesconsisting of circular quadrilaterals. Quantization of this algebraleads to new solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation and its 3D analogs.

Stochastic Loewner chains for DLA-like growth (an informal talk)
We construct two families of models of stochastic growth. Both represent a
generalization of the Hastings-Levitov-Stepanov model. In our generalization
the growing cluster is modified by the addition of an arbitrary number of
blocks in a single time step, with natural probabilities of attachment
governed by harmonic measure on the cluster boundary. Both families
allow for
continuum limits which are described by certain stochastic Loewner chains.
Further specializations of parameters of the models, and limiting procedures
lead to the deterministic Laplacian growth. We believe that our models
provide a natural interpolation between Laplacian growth and stochastic DLA
(or DLA-like) growth.
