Submit your master thesis
Once the master thesis has been accepted by the relevant authorities and any necessary corrections have been made, the author may submit the electronic version of his/her master thesis in Archive ouverte UNIGE.
The conditions laid down by the various faculties, sections or departments must be complied with. They are available from the student secretariat in each department.
To submit material in Archive ouverte, students must log in with a valid Switch edu-ID account. If the account is no longer active, students should contact their student secretariat.
Please note that during the submission process, a short abstract of 150 words must be entered.
Adding a Creative Commons licence
When a work is to be distributed freely on the Internet (Open Access), its author may decide to assign a licence to it as long as he/she holds all the copyright.
As part of its Open Access policy, the University of Geneva recommends choosing the most open licence possible, typically Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY), except where it is necessary to impose specific restrictions.
In concrete terms, it is recommended that the licence be clearly indicated on the work itself, in addition to mentioning it on the file submission form.
Deposit conditions
Only master's theses and advanced master's theses that are freely available in full text are posted in Archive ouverte UNIGE in accordance with faculty guidelines.
Documents with old names such as "mémoire de licence" are treated as Masters. The correct denomination can be mentioned in the "Remarks" field.

Search for Masters
By default, masters whose text is restricted or closed do not appear in the search results. The aim is to enable faculties to archive all masters theses in the long term, to generate bibliographies and to keep track of these student works without diminishing the prestige of other scientific publications in Archive ouverte. However, it is possible to make these masters appear by activating the ad hoc display parameter. This can be changed permanently directly in the profile of registered users.
