Regulations and rules

Regulations and rules

  • The cabins are intended exclusively for members of the university community and their use is reserved for group work
  • Their use is limited to a maximum of 4 hours per day and per group
  • Cabin keys are not distributed
  • The reservation and use of the cabins to give paid lessons is strictly prohibited
  • The reservation of the cabin expires in the following cases:
    • delay from 15 minutes
    • individual use
    • food and beverage consumption, with the exception of bottled water
    • deposit of personal belongings or books without effective occupation
  • The cabin can then be occupied by another group, for the entire reservation
  • The reservation of the cabins is mandatory and can be made at most 2 weeks in advance

For UNIGE students

To use the reservation tool, use your ISIS / SwitchAAI login and password.

For teachers, administrative and technical staff and HUG members
2 computer rooms (22 PCs and 14 PCs) and 1 meeting room with a capacity of approximately 16 places (with computer equipment). Reservation

For HUG members: please send an email to biblio-cmu(at)unige.ch specifying the date, time and room you wish to reserve.

Terms of use
  • The cabins and rooms are intended exclusively for students from the university community.
  • Use of the cabins is limited to a maximum of 5 hours per person per day
  •  The cabins and rooms are open and accessible at all times.
    •   It is strictly forbidden to book and use the cabins and rooms to give paid lessons.
  • Reservations for cabins and rooms become null and void in the following cases:
    • more than 15 minutes late
    • consumption of food or drink, with the exception of bottled water
    • deposit of personal belongings or books without actual occupation
    • occupation of areas by persons who are not members of the UNIGE
  • The computer and meeting rooms are intended exclusively for members of the university and HUG community.
  • Room keys are available at the Library reception desk
  • Room reservations lapse in the following cases:
    • more than 30 minutes late
    • consumption of food or drink, with the exception of bottled water
    • leaving personal belongings or books without actually using them


If these instructions are not followed, the room may be allocated to another person.

Atrium area
The work rooms and relaxation areas are currently reserved exclusively for the CMU community.

For students from the Faculty of Medicine and the Section of Pharmaceutical Sciences
10 collaborative work rooms, equipped with a screen. Reservation

For members of the Faculty of Medicine and the Section of Pharmaceutical Sciences
A 16-seat meeting room is available for booking. Reservation

Uni Mail

The Library offers 32 cabins, corresponding to 121 working places:

  • 27 booths for group work (2 to 8 people), including two projection booths (P1 and P2) equipped with a large screen. Reservation
  • 3 individual interpreting booths (reserved for interpreting students). Reservation
  • 2 booths (F1 and F2) with one consultation station each for finance databases (reserved for GSEM students and authorised persons - please contact the GSEM faculty for access requests). Reservation.

Reservation of these areas is compulsory and can only be made online. To connect to the tool, use the ISIS login and password.
2 individual booths (B5 and B6) are accessible without reservation.
Consult the Uni Mail maps to locate the cabins.

Rules for the use of the study spaces
  • Study spaces are for the exclusive use of members of the University and their use is reserved exclusively for group work.
  • Their use is restricted to max. 4 hours per day and per group.
  • Cabin keys are not distributed.
  • The reservation and use of cabins in order to give payant courses is stricly prohibited.
  • The cabin's reservation becomes null and void in following cases:
    • if participants are more than 15 minutes late
    • invidual use
    • eating and drinking except for bottled water
    • storing personal belongings or work

In those cases, the space is given to another group.

  • Reservation is compulsory and can be made up to 2 weeks in advance.
