Agreements with Publishers

The University of Geneva negotiates agreements with publishers in order to offer advantageous conditions of publication in Open Access for the institution's researchers. You will find below, in alphabetical order of publisher, an overview of the current deals and, where applicable, their terms and conditions.

For these titles, the author can make his or her article Open Access by depositing the Accepted manuscript in the Archive ouverte UNIGE, without embargo for SSH journals, and with 6 months embargo for STM journals. When depositing the published PDF version, a 5-year embargo is required.

The author may choose a CC BY 4.0 or CC BY-NC 4.0 (or CC BY-NC-ND or CC BY-NC-SA) license

Procedure

Only articles published after 1 January 2021 are eligible. It is possible to opt for publication in OA retroactively for eligible articles.

The recognition of the corresponding author is based on the affiliation reported on the publisher's platform, but also on the email address @unige.ch or @hcuge.ch.

Once identified, the author chooses the "Gold Open Access" option (decision of the rectorate), then selects, at the choosen license.

Fonds d'aide à la publication
Description

The University Rectorate has set up a central fund to cover part of the cost of publishing (Article Processing Charges or APCs) in Gold Open Access journals, or for books and books chapters that follow similar principles. Since 2018

Conditions

The fund can only be used on a subsidiary basis to the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), and never covers charges linked with publishing in hybrid journals. All details and allocation critera are listed on the request application form page.
