Christian received a B.Sc. degree in Information Technology Engineering from the University of La Matanza, Argentina, in 2002. He then studied psychology and earned a B.Sc. (2007) and an M.Sc. (2009) degree in Affective and Cognitive Psychology from the University of Geneva. During this time, he also worked as a research assistant for Prof. Klaus Scherer at the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences. Christian obtained his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Geneva in 2015 for investigating the impact of social information on emotion recognition under the supervision of Prof. David Sander. During his Ph.D., Christian was involved at the Department of Psychology by contributing to teaching activities, providing lectures on Emotion Theories to Bachelor and Master students and mentoring Master Thesis.

In 2016, Christian joined the Consumer Decision and Sustainable Behavior Lab as a postdoctoral research fellow. Interdisciplinary, his research integrates concepts and theories from emotion and social psychology using methods from computer sciences. For instance, Christian use big data to understand better psychological mechanisms underlying decision making relevant to sustainability at an unprecedented scale. Christian believes that integrating big data analytics such as large-scale social media analysis or machine learning algorithms into the methodological toolbox of the behavioral and social sciences open up new possibilities to assess the psychological state of large numbers of individuals.

Christian is also part of the GAPARS consortium that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. As part of this project, Christian combines his interdisciplinary competencies to investigate motivations and positives consequences of participating to a massive online citizen science project (i.e., Eve Online Project Discovery) using data mining and traditional techniques of investigation used in user experience research.

Christian was promoted to Lecturer in 2018. During the academic year 2018-19, he will be teaching two courses in the Master program in Psychology:

- Communicating Climate Change (Communiquer de manière efficace le changement climatique - 751616).

- Evaluation of behavioral interventions (Évaluation des interventions comportementales)
