PhD thesis:

My work is focused on negative emotions, and the way they impact (dysfunctional) epistemic reasoning and decision-making. Particularly, I am working on defining anxiety as an affective response to epistemic risk which underlies our tendency to doubt propositions, and motivates the intervention of the effortful cognitive strategies involved in inquiry and evidence accumulation. I am studying the pathological doubt of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder, and the hypotheses which have been put forward to explain such persistent unreasonable doubt, in order to propose a model of the psychological architecture underlying more ordinary types of doubt.

I am also interested in reflexive emotions, in relation with agency, responsibility, and the experience of control.
