Emotion and Memory Lab

PRESENTATION

Our research aims to understand how emotion and stress influence learning and memory in humans. We aim to characterize this interaction between emotion and memory across the life span to get a better understanding of how emotion modulates memory at different ages. We also examine how humans can regulate and thus modify emotion and stress’s influences on learning and memory processes.

DIRECTOR

Ulrike RimmeleProf. Ulrike Rimmele received a Master in Neural and Behavioral Sciences from the University of Tübingen and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Zürich. A post-doc at New York University followed where she studied emotion and memory. With an FNS Ambizione, she then examined the modulation of emotion on multiple memory phases at the Dept. of Basic Neurosciences at the University of Geneva.

In 2020, she joined the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at the University of Geneva with an FNS Eccellenza Professorial Fellowship that aims to examine how emotion, stress and their regulation affects memory processes across the life span.
