Research Groups

NEAD, UNIGE

PRESENTATION

The researchers of the NEAD group conduct their experiments using different kinds of methods able to investigate the brain processes related to emotional processes. The facilities including functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography, and peripheral measures such as electromyography and skin conductance are located to the Faculty of Psychology and Educational sciences and at the Central Medical University at the Brain and Behaviour Laboratory.

RESEARCH FOCI

  • Emotional prosody perception and production
  • Appraisal processes
  • Emergence of feelings and neuronal synchronizations
  • Music and emotion
  • Olfaction and emotion
  • Emotional facial expression recognition and production

DIRECTOR

GRANDJEAN_DidierDidier Grandjean is full professor at the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences and at the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences at the University of Geneva.

He achieved his thesis in 2005 under the direction of Klaus Scherer about the dynamic of appraisal processes using electroencephalographic methods.

He published more than 150 peer reviewed articles in international scientific journals in psychology and neuroscience about emotional processes related to emotional prosody perception and production, appraisal processes, the emergence of feelings, music and emotion, olfaction and emotion, and emotional facial expression perception and production.
