PRESENTATION

TECFA is an academic unit specialized in the field of educational technologies, since 1989. This unit is part of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences (FPSE) from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and is led by Prof. Mireille Bétrancourt.

Research at TECFA covers a broad field of studies, such as cognitive, social and affective implications of information and communication technologies.

TECFA offers courses about educational technologies in a Master of Sciences in Learning and Teaching Technologies (MALTT), in a continuing education diploma in conception and development of e-learning projects, and in bachelor level classes. Platforms and pedagogical resources are also developed and maintained by TECFA.

Moreover, TECFA proposes services, participates to events, and hosts online resources aimed at all age groups.

Betrancourt-Mireille.jpgMireille Bétrancourt Doctor in Cognitive Sciences, I am interested in the use of digital technologies in learning situations and their impact on cognitive and socio-cognitive processes. I am the director of the TECFA research unit since 2003.

Current research areas:

The impact of design factors of digital educational resources (multimedia, educational software and especially serious games, re-education) on learning processes from a cognitive and ergonomic perspective. The uses of digital technologies in training and teaching situations, by documenting their effects (perceived and observable) and their appropriation by the actors.
