My research aims at understanding how social emotions such as empathy are represented in the ageing brain. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and psychophysiological measures, I study the temporal dynamics of brain activity during and after emotional events. I am also interested in exploring the relationship between emotional processing, biomarkers of ageing and personality traits.
My thesis is under the supervision of Dr. Olga Klimecki and Prof. Patrik Vuilleumier. We are part of the Silver Santé Study. Our goal is to understand how mental training techniques such as meditation can regulate negative emotional experiences. We believe that mental training can impact on the cognitive changes triggered by high emotional events, thereby contributing to the well-being of elderly people.
