The second edition of the SwissRepro conference - the leading research network for reproductive studies in Switzerland - took place on 8 May at the Centre Maurice Chalumeau in Sexual Sciences [Centre Maurice Chalumeau en sciences des sexualités], University of Geneva (CMCSS].
48 Researchers from across Switzerland presented their work on reproduction and sexuality in the social sciences and humanities. The presentations and discussions were particularly rich, reflecting the depth and dynamism of this growing field.
The conference featured an inspiring keynote by Eszter Kismödi, an international human rights lawyer specialised in sexual and reproductive health law, policy and research (SRHM). Her talk addressed the current backlash against sexual and reproductive health and rights and highlighted the critical importance of continuing research and scholarly engagement in this area.
The event also included guided visits of the CMCSS collections on sexualities. These visits sparked stimulating discussions on the challenges of classifying documents related to sexualities, as well as on how such collections can support research on, for example, sexual and gender norms, their regulation through medicine and law, and their representation in popular culture.
