Admission and enrollment procedures
Doctoral applicants must hold a Master's degree from a university and program recognized by UNIGE. Applicants must also have a Bachelor's degree that they obtained after at least three years of study (no fewer than 180 ECTS credits) in a university and program recognized by UNIGE. No French test is required for enrollment with the Admissions Office. Please check with the faculty or school whether there are any language proficiency requirements.
As a general rule, doctoral programs start in either the spring or autumn semester, although applications can be submitted at any time during the year. Please contact the faculty in question for more details about the specific requirements.
PhD candidates must be enrolled at the University throughout their doctoral studies. Please visit the Admissions Office for more information about enrollment terms and procedures.
The Welcome Center facilitates the settling in of future employees of partnering institutions and their families in the region. Our services are dedicated to the members of the academic teaching staff of the University of Geneva (as from post-doctoral level) , to the staff of Geneva University Hospitals as well as to the members of the teaching staff and for the senior staff of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland – Geneva from another canton or country.
