To successfully complete your PhD, you need to ensure that your financial needs are met, including if you have a family to support.

There are several ways of funding your thesis:

• through a position as an academic assistant
• through a subsidy and/or a grant. Swiss federal institutions (such as the Swiss National Science Foundation or swissuniversities) and private foundations both offer thesis grants, as do a number of international and bilateral partners
• through a job that is unrelated to your thesis and outside the university.
