CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva offers Master students and students in their final year of Bachelor who plan on starting their Master Degree in 2021/2022 academic year the opportunity to be part of the University of Geneva’s team participating in the Jessup Moot Court Competition. The competition will start in September 2021.

The competition consists of two phases (from September 2021 to April 2022). The first one requires each team to submit two written pleadings, one on behalf of the applicant and the other one on behalf of the respondent (mid-January 2021). After that, the team will prepare for the oral part of the competition. Depending on the number of participating teams from Switzerland, a National Round may be held before the International Rounds. The international rounds of Jessup Moot Court Competition will be held in Washington D.C. in March/April 2022.*

The Jessup Moot Court Competition is a unique opportunity for law students, having an acute interest in Public International Law, to deepen their knowledge in the field of international law, polish their research, writing and advocacy skills (in English). The challenging, but highly rewarding experience of participating in Jessup Moot Court Competition will open the new opportunities to students who would like to pursue their career in international law. Such a participation is a unique asset in your CV!

Students will be granted in the spring semester 2022 18 ECTS (which replaces a seminar) for their participation in Jessup Moot Court Competition. The competition is held entirely in English, therefore, proficiency in spoken and written English is a prerequisite.

The University of Geneva team will be coached by Lizaveta Tarasevich, Research Assistant, INPUB, who has been participant, coach and judge in several Jessup competitions, and supervised by Professor Marco Sassòli.
