Francesco Sasso joined the Energy Efficiency group of the Institute of Environmental Sciences and the Department F.-A. Forel at the University of Geneva as a Ph.D. student in February 2020. His research focuses on the technical and economic potential of energy efficiency measure in the existing Swiss commercial building stock.
Francesco obtained his Bachelor title in “Mechanical Engineering” from Federico II University in Naples, Italy in 2016. In 2019, he obtained his M.Sc. in “Mechanical Engineering for Energy and Environment” from the same university.
His Master diploma project, which he prepared in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute of Solar Energy Systems (ISE) in Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany), dealt with design and simulation of Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants. Following his graduation, Francesco continued to work for Fraunhofer ISE, in the framework of the European research program Polyphem, where his research focused on the development of a design tool for small-scale combined cycle CSP plant.
