Navdeep Bhadbhade joined the Energy Efficiency group of the Institute of Environmental Sciences at the University of Geneva as a Ph.D. student in August 2017. His research is embedded in the project of Swiss Competence Centre for Energy Research on the Efficiency of Industrial Processes (SCCER-EIP). This project aims to develop a database of energy efficiency measures and a bottom-up model to simulate current and future energy use of the Swiss industrial sector.

Before joining the Energy Efficiency group, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pune (India) in 2012. He subsequently earned his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan (USA) in 2015. During his stay at Wayne State University, he was a part of Lab of Multiscale Complex Systems Science and Engineering. His Master’s research project dealt with model-based process analysis for sustainable electroplating. The research consisted of development of a simulation tool to evaluate key process indicators of the electroplating process which would eventually help the user to make the process more sustainable by identifying opportunities for waste minimization and by improving its economic performance.
