Regina Damalerio joined the Energy Efficiency group at the Institute for Environmental Sciences, University of Geneva, as an external PhD student as of September 2024. Her current research focuses on developing an optimization model to design retrofitted processes for existing industrial sites, with practical constraints. This is in line with the objectives of SNSF-funded project titled "Decarbonizing industry by smart electrification (DecInEL)".

Prior to this, she obtained her Bachelor and Master's degree in Chemical Engineering at De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines. She worked as a research assistant in the same institution with her research focusing on nutrient recovery from municipal wastewater treatment plants. Her master's thesis explored developing a bi-optimization model for phosphorus recovery in wastewater treatment plants in the Philippine setting.
